• Minoritenkloster, Dreifaltigkeitskirche

The Minoritenkloster refers to the Minorite Monastery, and the Dreifaltigkeitskirche is the Church of the Holy Trinity, both located in Vienna, Austria. The term “Minoritenkloster” is derived from the Order of Minor Friars, and the monastery is connected to the church, which is also known as the Minoritenkirche.

The Church of the Holy Trinity is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Alservorstadt district, part of Vienna’s 8th municipal district, Josefstadt. It’s known for its early Baroque architecture, with a two-towered facade and high dome roofs. The interior is cross-shaped with a central dome and side chapels. The church’s facade is notable for being one of the earliest examples of a concave shape in Vienna.

The main altar painting, created by Josef von Hempel in 1826, depicts the Holy Trinity. In the left aisle, there’s an altar dedicated to the Virgin Mary with an image of the “Immaculate Conception” by Leopold Kupelwieser. The church also has historical connections to famous composers, such as Ludwig van Beethoven, whose body was blessed in the church before his burial.
